Role overview
As an Analytical Engineer at Sparkle, you operate at the intersection of data engineering and business intelligence. You’ll build robust, modular data pipelines with dbt on Azure, and ensure analytical datasets are clear, maintainable, and performance-ready. You guide clients from first concept to working solution.
Key responsibilities
Model reusable, business-ready datasets (data vault, star schemas, mart layers...) using dbt
Build scalable ELT pipelines in Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks…)
Translate business needs into logical and physical data models
Test, document, and version your dbt projects in line with best practices
Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business users in end-to-end engagements
Improve data quality, lineage, and overall governance

Requirements
Must haves:
Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool) – dbt Cloud or Core
Strong knowledge of Azure data services (Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse – Databricks is a plus)
Solid understanding of data engineering, including ELT/ETL, dimensional modeling, Data Vault, etc.
Excellent SQL skills; Python experience is a strong bonus
Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a plus)
Nice to haves:
Experience with CI/CD and version control (Git, dbt Cloud, Azure DevOps)
Familiarity with Power BI or other visualization tools
Understanding of data governance, metadata, and lineage concepts
Exposure to machine learning pipelines or event-driven architectures
